assumption university of thailand

Commonly referred to as ABAC, Assumption University is the first international in Thailand. Unfortunately, this is NOT my university. I have some friends that go to this school and I've been giving the opportunity to spend some time on the campus and explore the area. The school is located about 45 minutes away from the center of Bangkok in a more rural area. This university caters particularly to students interested in business education and management science.

My friends and I have been referring to ABAC as the tropical Asian Hogwarts. The campus is beautiful and we aren't the only ones to think so. Apparently a lot of photographers and videographers come to ABAC to shoot on location.

To find out more about ABAC, visit the university homepage at http://www.au.edu/ .

on nut night market

The area of Bangkok in which we live is called On Nut. On Nut isn't known for much; there isn't incredible restaurants or hot night clubs. However, about a four minute walk away from my condo is the On Nut night market. After the Thai locals finish up with work and the students are ready for dinner, they head to this market for cheap food & cheap brews.

Along with a beer garden and food court, the market sells a wide variety of clothing items mostly targeting young Thai girls. I would be lying if I told you I hadn't bought several items here already. Louis Vuitton and Gucci knock-offs sell for around five bucks. Handmade jewelry and lingerie are hard to resist at the low, low prices. But I'll tell ya what, if you are anything past a size 5- you're screwed. The clothes come in one size and do not fit all. Asian women, as you probably know, are tiny...and so are their clothes.

Nevertheless, the On Nut night market is a wonderfully quaint market that is perfect for a quick bite to eat and a couple beers with friends. Watch my vlog below to get a more detailed description of the market.

bangkok city living

I stay at a condominium called The Link 2 in the heart of Bangkok. Searching for places to live in a new country from a different country is decently difficult. It's hard to trust what people claim over the internet. When I first saw photos of this condo online I thought no way can it be this good. I opened the door to my new home and couldn't be happier. The place is fantastic in so many ways. The view is great from the balcony, the windows fill the place with natural light, and hardwood floors! I am, thus far, extremely pleased with my decision.

My roommate, Caroline, and I pay 20,000 baht per month. That equals out to roughly $600 USD.

It is conveniently located next to the BTS station and next to the Tesco Lotus supermarket which I keep referring to as the glorified Thai Wal-Mart.

The amount of window light in this apartment makes a photographer very happy.

Yes, our dishes have roosters on them.

Balcony views of Bangkok.

This quaint pool will be a relief from the Thai sun.

Dragon fruits.

Here's to living in Thailand.
