chinese new year

Chinese New Year in Bangkok is, apparently, a pretty big deal. My pals and I headed over to Yaowaraj (the official Chinatown of Bangkok) to join in the festivities. Everyone was PUMPED.

You can find all sorts of goodies inside of Chinatown including (but not limited to) Chinese decor, silks, calligraphy banners, spices, etc. All sorts of people come out for Chinese New Year: families of Chinese descent, tourists, and Thai people looking for some entertainment.

Earlier in the week I drove by Chinatown and shop owners all around were already decorating the outside of their stores. The town turns completely red with Chinese decor.

We didn't stay for the parade because...well...we got hungry. We celebrated Chinese New Year with some Mexican food. Wee!
